Due to the change in itinerary because of the cancellation of the Donnington event, Friday 30th September of this ‘double header’ for Academy 2011 competitors will now be included within the 2011 Championship, the penultimate race being Sunday 18th September at Mallory Park. We are hoping that the Saturday of this double header will still remain as a post Academy race to attain another signature. Each competitor needs to have raced six times and hence upgrade to a National A license status, allowing removal of the ‘Novice Cross’ and the ability to race in Europe in 2012.
The two days will be in support of the Britcar 24 hour endurance race. From their website “The only 24hr race for GT and Saloon cars in the UK, which is now firmly placed in the British motorsport calendar as the race to attend, as a spectator or competitor. With growing grid numbers from all around Europe, and with top International teams competing, the Britcar 24hrs at Silverstone is the place to be, racing twice around the clock on the circuit lauded as the ‘Home of British Motorsport’ and the British Grand Prix”, which dictates a great weekend of motorsport:
- Britcar 24hrs
- Britcar V8 Utes
- Ma5da MX-5 Championship
- Alfashop Alfa Romeo Championship
- Sports 2000 Championship
Having spend many a mile on the Arena GP circuit with a number of track day organisers, to now be able to test and race here will be most exciting and exhilarating to say the least and for those who may ridicule, Copse can be done flat in an Academy car on CR322s and that is a fact.
I will look for more details and maybe this could be a good event for a lads get together. Anyone interested in coming as a spectator, please let me know as I can organise tickets.
